Obstruction of justice: Call now!
Donald Trump asked then FBI Director James Comey to shut down an investigation into Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security advisor.
Make no mistake: This is huge—it’s clear obstruction of justice. Even some Republicans in Congress are beginning to say that, if true, these revelations will warrant impeaching Trump.
Last night’s appointment of a special counsel was a big step forward. But the public still needs to see the Comey memo. We need Comey to testify publicly. And we need a full, independent investigation launched immediately to get all the facts before Republicans can stamp out this smoldering ember.
Please call your lawmakers in both the House and Senate right now. Here’s where to call:
Representative Nancy Pelosi – (202) 225-4965
Senator Dianne Feinstein – (202) 224-3841
Senator Kamala D. Harris – (202) 224-3553
Tell the person who picks up the phone that you are a constituent and where you live. If you leave a message, be sure to include your name and full mailing address, so that they know that you are a constituent. Here’s an example of what you might say:
“I’m outraged by the reports about Donald Trump interfering with an FBI investigation. The appointment of a special counsel is one step forward, but you need to do more. Comey must testify in public, and all related documents must be released. If news reports are true, this is obstruction of justice, and Congress must impeach.”
News reports say that this could be the first of numerous memos Comey wrote after meetings with Trump. And the case for an independent investigation was already boiling over even before this week’s news broke. If Trump committed obstruction of justice, he needs to be impeached.
We’re closing in on holding Trump and the GOP accountable for Trump’s toxic and corrupt presidency. Let’s keep demanding the truth and keep the momentum going.
