This year’s event will be held Sept. 29 through Oct. 7 and focus on the theme “Charge: (verb) to agitate, stimulate, or excite.”

Established in 2013 as a one-day block party in Uptown, the Oakland Music Festival has evolved into a series of showcases, discussions, workshops, and networking events at venues such as Oaklandish HQ, the Legionnaire Saloon, and Sole Space.

WE’RE BACK!

First off, welcome back! We are excited to be returning for our 5th year of supporting Oakland arts & culture.

Following the success of 2016’s expanded format with we are continuing the trend towards a conference/festival hybrid model. We kicked this off last year with our #OaklandMovingForward series of panel talks and mixers, and will be continuing this year with our Fall Event Series kicking off Friday, September 29th.

Our goal has always been to highlight Oakland’s diverse culture, and with this format we can expand beyond music – into food, art, dance and film – while offering curated experiences that reflect what we love most about our city.

Please join us this Fall and stay tuned for more details.

With love,

The OMF Team

ABOUT

Oakland Music Festival (OMF) is an annual celebration dedicated to keeping Oakland creative. OMF serves as a platform to highlight the city’s cultural heritage for a national audience with the goal of creating a sustainable local creative economy that can support full time artists and a thriving cultural scene. This year’s festival will feature a weeklong series of showcases, parties, community events, workshops, and panel discussions geared to highlight Oakland’s eclectic scene, while also addressing the issues facing the creative community.

HISTORY

Launched in 2013 as a celebration of all things Oakland, OMF is an independent showcase featuring local and international musical talent as well as local eateries, breweries and small craft distillers. Founded by a group of friends and Oakland locals, the Festival aims to foster and support both the local music, art community and the diverse food & spirit craftsmen that collectively give Oakland its distinct flavor. Starting as a small community block party and growing to a full-fledged, 3,000 person festival in 2015, OMF is now entering its fourth year, and continues to welcome an even broader range of artists and performers, both local and nationally recognized acts, while still maintaining its original mission of promoting the local community.
