Bay Area festivals: ‘El Grito’ and Latino Heritage 2018

Join the celebrations as we commemorate the history, culture and traditions of our Latin American countries.

National Latino Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) is when we recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States.

Its roots go back to 1968, beginning on September 15, the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile and Belize. Learn more.

The biggest celebration is from Mexico called ‘El Grito’. Learn more.
