To enable youth to experience creativity, love and delight through music, and be inspired to make a productive contribution to our community, our nation and our world.
The Narada Michael Walden Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people by supporting music appreciation and education for Bay Area youth. Through grants, scholarships, educational programs, performances, mentorships and collaborations with community organizations the Foundation provides opportunities for emerging young artists.
Established in 2004, by Grammy award-winning producer, songwriter, and musician Narada Michael Walden, the NMWF is focused on music appreciation and education.
The Foundation delivers its services through a network of non-profit organizations with proven track records of success in youth education and community empowerment. We partner with organizations that provide instruments, music education, and mentoring to students. The Foundation also facilitates the award of college scholarships for aspiring artists and enables the stars of tomorrow by offering talented, emerging young artists access to recording facilities, coaching and production support.
The NMWF is a collaborative effort supported by recognized musicians joined together to support youth. The Narada Michael Walden Foundation respects the potential in every person.
Multiple Grammy and Emmy-winning hitmaker Narada Michael Walden, who has produced multi-million-selling smashes for superstars Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and many others, released his dynamic new solo album, Immortality, this past summer via Quarto Valley Records. He followed that with the launch, in partnership with Modern Drummer Publications, of UPBEAT, a brand-new podcast series hosted by Walden as part of the all-new Modern Drummer Podcast series on the PodcastOne network. Walden is always in the studio producing for various artists, including Journey guitarist Neal Schon’s new solo album Universe, out this month. He will join Schon on stage in 2021 as Journey’s new drummer.
Producing hits for artists as diverse as Aretha Franklin (including the platinum “Freeway of Love.”), Steve Winwood, Ray Charles, Wynonna Judd, Whitney Houston, George Michael, Mariah Carey, Barbara Streisand, Lionel Ritchie, Lisa Fischer, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones, Jeff Beck and The Temptations, the EMMY and multi-GRAMMY winner (Producer, Album and Song of The Year) has been at the helm of hit music that spans decades. His music flows freely from pop, rock and soul, to the rarified realms of jazz, fusion and world music. Walden was an integral part of introducing Whitney Houston (producing six of her seven #1 hits to break Michael Jackson’s record) and mega-star Mariah Carey to millions of fans worldwide, producing and writing the breakthrough hits that first brought these divas to the spotlight. Billboard Magazine honored him as one of the Top Ten Producers of all time.
