Community Music Center’s popular Christmas musical, La Posarela, is a bilingual show that combines the traditions of Las Posadas and Las Pastorelas.

A delight for all ages, this modern twist on the nativity story also addresses issues of immigration and gentrification in San Francisco.

As Maria and Jose search for “posada” (shelter) on their way to Bethlehem, a mischievous devil and his sidekicks try to prevent them from finding shelter. A group of angels intervene and a fight between good and evil unfolds! The cast of over 70 performers includes members of Community Music Center’s Latin Vocal Workshop, Mission District Young Musicians Program, Coro del Pueblo, Children’s Chorus, Older Adult Choirs and other guest performers.
