Barrio Expressions: Amor Eterno Arte + Thee Souleros Ball Revue present // Oakland

Amor Eterno Arte and Thee Souleros Ball Revue present Barrio Expressions

Exhibition: Thursday – Sunday, Until January 31, 2016.

About:

Barrio Expressions was a public access show about Chicanos in the East Bay from 1976 – 1985.

Juan Espinosa along with his crew documented Low-rider car shows, cultural events and the everyday struggles in Hayward, Union City, Decoto, San Leandro and Oakland.

The exhibit will include contemporary Chicano arte inspired by traditional barrio expressions; black and grey, in ball point pen, sharpie, spray can and pencil. A collection of photos and memorabilia of the Low-rider Renaissance (1970’s-1980’s) will be on display from both Barrio Expressions and our East Bay community; a collection of memorabilia from those who still keep La Movida alive today.

This exhibit is in memory of Sonny Madrid and Teen Angel.
