The Other Barrio: Movie // Oakland

"The Other Barrio" @ Roxie Theater // San Francisco

Straight from today’s headlines reporting fires, evictions and protests in the street! Based on true events and filmed on location in the Mission!

JOIN THE FILMMAKERS: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15 AT 7 PM

As if ripped from today’s headlines reporting fires, evictions and protests in the street, “The Other Barrio” tells the story of housing inspector Roberto Morales (Richard Montoya) as he investigates the suspicious circumstances of a fatal fire in a residential hotel in San Francisco’s rapidly gentrifying Latino Mission District and finds himself face-to-face with murder in the streets, corruption at City Hall and the mysterious Sofia Nido (Veronica Valencia), a beautiful but dangerous flame from his past. The film is based on true events and addresses the timely issues of gentrification and displacement of low-income communities.
