Brown is New White! Organizing, Elections, Democracy and New American Majority: Conversation with Maria Echaveste

Brown is New White! Organizing, Elections, Democracy and New American Majority: Conversation with Maria Echaveste

The explosive population growth of people of color in America over the past 50 years has created a new American majority consisting of progressive people of color and progressive whites.

In his new book, Phillips takes an unvarnished look at the history of whites and people of color in America and reveals how the past has created current conditions that have revolutionary implications for U.S. politics in 2016 and beyond.

Steve Phillips is a civil rights lawyer and Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress. He is a bestselling author and co-founder of the social justice organization PowerPAC.org. Maria Echaveste is currently a Senior Fellow at UC Berkeley’s Center for Latin American Studies after building a distinguished career as a public policy consultant, lecturer, senior White House official, ‎and corporate attorney.
