A new exhibition celebrating CSUMB Student, Faculty and Staff Veterans, Active Duty Service Members and Military Dependents. The exhibition begins with Fort Ord history, CSUMB’s 25 years and looks to the future for ways our campus can support our military communities.
SpectorDance’s artistic director and founder, Fran Spector Atkins, is teaming up with Porter Center for military families exectutive director Dorrane Colman on When You Were Gone, a new multidisciplinary performance highlighting stories of the military experience from the perspective of the child. When You Were Gone aims to utilize the power of performance and creative expression to heal trauma arising from the complex realities of deployment, and to promote public understanding of and appreciation for the diverse range of experiences of veterans and their families. Ultimately, the piece aims to celebrate the essential role of the military in our democracy and to acknowledge the sacrifices of soldiers who put our country first.
