[free film] Claudia Pay y Paz: The 43 // Berkeley

The disappearance of 43 students in Guerrero, Mexico in 2014 generated global attention and widespread protests.

In response to controversy, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights sent an international panel of experts to investigate the disappearances. Claudia Paz y Paz, Guatemala’s former attorney general and a member of the panel, discusses her role in the investigation.

Claudia Paz y Paz was Guatemala’s first female attorney general and a leader in reforming that country’s justice system. Her work has received international recognition, including a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011.
