About:

In August we will hold the first Seminario de Música Afroperuana (Afro-Peruvian Music Seminar), also known as SEMA.

The seminar is born out of the objective to promote and disseminate Afro-Peruvian culture through the teaching of one of its most significant forms of artistic expression: its music.

With that goal we have brought together twenty professionals specializing in Afro-Peruvian music among them teachers, researchers, and culture bearers who will give classes and lectures on percussion, guitar and bass.

SEMA offers the opportunity to study through practice and theory alongside emblematic Afro-Peruvian characters. In addition, SEMA provides bibliographical information about the history of Afro-Peruvian music: its genres, instruments, and most important characters.
