Living History: The Powerful Story of Olga Talamante // Oakland 1

Woman of the People!

Where: Peralta Hacienda in Oakland, this Friday 6pm – 7:30pm.

California State University, East Bay’s Oral Traditions class led by Professor Carlos Salomon is hosting a “Living History” event with special guest speaker Olga Talamante!

Olga Talamante is currently the Executive Director of the Chicana/Latina Foundation.

She is a Chicana political activist who was involved in the Chicano Movement and the Anti-Vietnam War Movement. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Latin American Studies and traveled to Argentina right after she finished school.

In Argentina she also became involved in a political activist organization and got arressted in 1974 due to her involvements. She was unjustly imprisoned and brutally tortured for organizing.
