Talk on Care, Drug Use, and Urban Poverty in Buenos Aires’ Shantytowns // Berkeley

Professor Epele will share the results of her ethnographic research in Buenos Aires’ shantytowns.

She examines how changing social, economic, and territorial realities have been altering drug use, local care practices and knowledge, health vulnerability, and mortality patterns among marginalized populations.

María Epele is an Argentine medical anthropologist, professor at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and a researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET), Argentina.
