Tony Sandoval ‘Sunday Night Oldies’ 98.1FM ends in Bay Area!

After 17 years of Sunday night oldies, radio station 98.1 KISS FM has changed!

His oldies show was a legend in our Bay Area. His sweet sexy voice and dedications made listening to the program ‘muy firme’!

Here’s what he said:

Hello Friends,
I am humbled by your overwhelming support and concern.
I started my career at KISS 17 years ago with no radio experience and no expectations. Michael Erickson changed my life when he gave me (a kid with no direction and just a dream) an opportunity of a life time. Together we launched the Sunday Night Oldies Show on 98.1 KISS FM not knowing what to expect. I was given a purpose and a platform to let my voice be heard and reach out to people not just in California but all over the World Wide Web. The show touched people of all ages and nationalities, cultural backgrounds people you would never expect to have anything in common. The music set the mood but it was the callers that made the show. The stories of love, heart break, triumph and sadness followed by your reaction and compassion made our program more than a show but an experience.
To all my listener I thank you for all the years of support and love. To all my co-workers I thank you for the inspiration and guidance. Fortunately my story is not over. I will be on the air Weekdays from 3p to 8p on the New 98.1 The Breeze. I hope you continue to support me and be part of my new radio journey.

Con todo Corazon I love you all.

  1. It’s great that you are getting ideas from this post as well
as from our dialogue made at this place.

  2. 🙂 Só poderia ter opção de verniz localizado.

  3. It’s really very complex in this busy life to listen news on Television, thus I just use
world wide web for that reason, and take the most up-to-date information.

  4. Luv the oldies. born & raised is San Fran Ca,

  5. Sunday night oldies was the highlight of my week! My only concession to commercial radio. It made all the troubles of the week bearable and got me ready to do it all again. I sang, I danced, shared the music with my children. Sundays were always about being ready for the show at 7 p.m. Tonight, when I realized it was gone, the house was quiet where once there had been joy and energy and the shared experience of the show. Another station please! KPFA?? We love you Tony!

Oh no, I just got the news. I have a knot in my stomach ready to cry. I’ve been without tunes for awhile. My son said I can get 98.1 on my new phone. Oh my ….! I couldn’t wait to turn on my Sun. Night oldies
I was sooo, so soo happy. You’d think it was Christmas . I’ve been a loyal listener for 17yrs. So have my 3 kids. My youngest is now 20yrs old. But they’d have to listen to me sing to every song. Sunday’s there. Was no T.V. just me and Tony.
Every song ment something to me. Now what shall I do.?????
When I put on 98.1 and heard that crap. (Excuse my mouth). I thought it was a mistake online.Tony….what are. We suppose to do now. Any suggestions for your loyal listeners..please tell me what you think.
Like one person said, you can’t just leave us hanging high and dry.with nowhere else to go. Or to turn to..hope you can reply with some good news. Tonite is a sad nite. Im crushed. To me this is a bigger lose then all the celebrities whom have resent ly passed. ……………I sincerely mean that too.
Truly Thankful to you for every Sunday night you gave us. THANK YOU TONY.
    Love you mucho
    Melissa L.

  7. What about the college SJ station, I think they do Beer run Bobby.

  8. Tony I’m missing you already. I enjoyed your show every Sunday night. I would listen on my way to work and when I got there I would turn the radio on.
I’ll miss Kiss. All of you have a special place in my heart.
    Much Love to you all.

  9. I need my Sunday Night Oldies! It’s the perfect ending to every week. Stand up for your loyal followers Tony! Don’t bow down to the Corporate Monster’s. Bring the Sunday Night Oldies back on a grass roots level. Any smaller Bay Area radio station would welcome you and your loyal followers.

  10. So sorry that 98.1 kiss is no longer on the air , I enjoyed listening in morning on my way to work and also on my way home in evening and especially on Sunday. So sad to inform you that I will not be switching over to your new radio station. I find it boring that it just plays music constantly, what made 98.1 Kiss such greater radio was Chino , Renal , Christy , Tony etc.

  11. Oh no, I’m sure he can still do the show, lots of us count on on the show to remember go back to our younger day releases stress …

  12. After 17 years of 98.1 kiss fm oldies, I think the loyal listeners were entitled to an explanation or at the very least, an opportunity to let our voices be heard. I hope Tony Sandoval will be allowed to do more on air than just announce call letters every hour. He has a huge following but he also has much to offer. I hope you dont limit him. Your music will not keep listeners, your radio personalities will.

  13. To Bad so Sad, Alway’s looked forward to Sunday nights, with You.

  14. NO! What will I do without my Sunday z night Oldies?!?
