Xaxado Mission is bringing this time “not just one”, but 2 master accordionists for an unforgettable Forró dance party at the legendary The Ramp.
Creosote is the accordion duo of Jamie Maschler and Gabriel Rodrigues. Together they play a dynamic array of original and world music. Maschler and Rodrigues are both seasoned musicians and have individually and collectively mastered their craft of performing, arranging and composing on the accordion.
Expect to hear clever yet elegant versions of new and old Brazilian and world music tunes. The instrumental duo recently released their first self-titled album.
Xaxado Mission is a San Francisco based Brazilian band that specializes in Forró, a genre of music originating in Northeastern Brazil. The repertoire brings high energy songs from masters Luiz Gonzaga and Jackson do Pandeiro, in addition to a few Carimbo fusions, and Samba sets tailored for dancing the hours away.
Playing both classic and modern Forró songs, the instrumentation consists of authentic Forró instruments like the zabumba, accordion, triangle, seven string guitar, pandeiro, winds and bass, sometimes harmonica. If you’ve never heard of Forró, but enjoy dancing to styles like salsa, cumbia, samba, then you won’t want to miss on Xaxado Mission! Always sure to be a great time!!!
Gonzaga Bless DJ Crew, named after the King Luiz Gonzaga, major icon and hero of Forró culture is a DJ collective with a passion for Forró music.
Forró For All California will get you up to speed in a jiffy with a dance class by Jennifer Del Checcolo and Omar Jardim at 4pm sharp. This class is really fun and popular, so make sure to be there on time!
