We are excited to invite you to our Paper Cutout Workshop/ Taller De Papel Picado conducted by Chicana artist Carmen Lomas Garza!
Workshop is being held on Sunday May 20th from 2 to 3:20 pm at The Mexican Museum.
The PAPEL PICADO WORKSHOP is a hands-on workshop on the techniques for folding and cutting tissue paper to make “banderitas de papel picado” (little paper banners) used in Mexico and the Southwestern United States as decorations for celebrations.
In 60 to 90 minutes the participants will learn to fold and cut tissue paper to make 3 (or more) cutout designs and then attach the cutouts to a string to make a set ready to hang across a room for their next celebration.
Workshop is open to both Adults and Children.
The most impressive workshop is when children and parents/adults participate together. Children must be ages 6 and up. A parent or guardian must accompany children and will also participate.
Admission is FREE but we have Limited Availability.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at (415) 202-9700.
