[exhibit] LA FRONTERA: Artists Respond to U.S. Mexico Border // SF

Dates: April – September 2019.
Jewish Community Center of San Francisco
3200 California Street | San Francisco, CA 94118 | 415.292.1200

LA FRONTERA is a powerful exhibition showcasing the work of established and emerging contemporary artists who explore themes of immigration, migration, detainment and asylum. Their work reflects global turmoil, migration and border issues and offers fresh viewpoints on human rights.

In the midst of an international debate on immigration, this project is designed to provide a timely forum for reflection and discussion. Despite historic political attempts to divide people, artists have been consistent drivers of innovation and creativity to solve border issues and propose solutions revolving around this highly-charged subject matter.

  • Exhibit organized by David J. de la Torre, Curator of Exhibitions.
  • We are grateful to all participating artists, collaborators and lenders including Victor Cartagena, Juan Fuentes, Matt Gonzalez and Acción Latina/El Tecolote.
