Cesar Chavez Celebrations 2023 in San Jose
Here’s some events celebrating Cesar Chavez in San Jose for Thursday and Friday.
The Alum Rock Union School District (ARUSD) is hosting their annual Cesar Chavez March!

Hundreds of students will walk from their campuses to convene at the Mexican Heritage Plaza for a program filled with music, history, dance and culture.
Thursday, March 30, 2023
School of Arts & Culture Mexican Heritage Plaza
in San Jose.
7:45-8:00 — Meet & Greet, Orientation
8:00-9:30am — Walk with students
9:30-11:30am — Program at Mexican Heritage Plaza (Dancers, Keynote Speaker, etc)
11:30-1:00pm — Escort students back to schools.
5pm: Flag ceremony at San Jose’s city hall.

Friday, March 31st is an official holiday!

Cesar Chavez Day is a U.S. federal commemorative holiday, proclaimed by President Barack Obama in 2014.
The holiday celebrates the birth and legacy of the civil rights and labor movement activist Cesar Chavez on March 31 every year.
