[donations needed] Farm Workers Exposed to Smoke and Ash – Near Mountain Fire in California
| Dear Supporter of Farm Workers, The Mountain Fire is raging in Ventura County due to climate conditions such as high winds and dry vegetation. Click here for CNN news updates on the Mountain Fire. UFW Foundation staff are responding, urgently collecting N-95 masks to distribute to farm workers who typically aren’t provided masks by employers and often force themselves to come to work even under dangerous smoke conditions. Economic pressure and the need to sacrifice health to make ends meet is a harsh reality of the farm workers we serve. |
“We are asking for N-95 masks and bandana donations for farm workers who are currently working in the smoke of the ongoing Mountain Fire. Masks are not provided to them through their employer and therefore they are working with little to no coverage from the floating ash and smoke” Giselle Cruz UFW Foundation Senior Organizing Coordinator for Disaster Response |
