Elena’s Mexican Restaurant is ‘Fantastico’!

New Mexican restaurant in SF is gorgeous and worth it.

Here’s what we loved about Elena’s!

  • The service: Wow, about 4-5 managers on site to meticulously oversee every foodie aspect.
  • Our waiter ‘Olivia’ is sweet, ask for her! They really care about your experience.
  • The ambiance: High ceilings & modernism reminds you of swanky Mexico City restaurants.
  • ‘Carlota de Limon’ pic: The best desert, 2 pics below.
  • The ‘crudos’: The raw fish plates such as Ahi are surprisingly outstanding.
  • Soft salsa music. Not over bearing where conversations can be.
  • Executive chef: Benjamin is super passionate. It matters and it shows.
  • Three item combo: Chile Relleno, Enchilada and Pork tamale.

What we’re definitely coming back for:

  • The pozole. So much buzz from other experts and staff, they swear by it.

Small details:

  • The high-roller cocktail: The 6 flavors completely over-ride its high-end tequila. No bueno at $25; better served neat.
  • The tres leches: Not fluffy like we’re used to seeing at quinceaneras, bodas, etc.
  • Coctel de Camarones: Shouldn’t it be served in a handsome tall glass? It’s a small detail.

The owner:

We are so proud and excited to share the details of our newest venture… Elena’s is a new concept for us which celebrates everything my family has grown to love about traditional Mexican food coupled with classic Mexican-American favorites. It pays particular homage to my daughters’ heritage, much like how we celebrate our Italian heritage with Original Joe’s… We are so looking forward to sharing our new space with you in West Portal next week. — Elena.
