Oakland Carnival brings culture, community, and wellness to Mosswood Park on the first Saturday in June!

Always the first Saturday in June, Oakland Carnival’s unique inclusion of Caribbean, African, Brazilian, and African American cultures makes it the perfect family-friendly showcase of local and international talent, art, food, and music.

The 2024 Oakland Carnival Festival will feature multiple curated stages and activity zones repping for the culture, the community, and our wellness.

The Oakland Carnival Committee is a joint partnership of local arts organizations led by SambaFunk!, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt arts organization with the support of the City of Oakland, San Francisco Foundation, Akonadi Foundation, California Arts Council, East Bay Community Foundation, and multiple local community members.

Why You Can’t Miss This Year’s Carnival:

  • Star-Studded Performances: Joining us to celebrate are St. Lucia’s award-winning music producer and artist, Motto and the Trinidadian 7x Soca Monarch and musical icon, Super Blue! Bring your flags, dance, and wave as these beloved artists elevate the carnival spirit with their dynamic performances, promising an electrifying atmosphere that will have you dancing all day long.
  • A Decade of Unity and Celebration: This year, we commemorate a significant milestone – the 10th year of bringing together communities through love, music, and dance. It’s more than just an event; it’s a tradition celebrating the rich African diaspora heritage and its vibrant influence on Oakland’s multicultural tapestry.
  • New and Exciting Experiences: We strive to bring something new to the table each year, and this anniversary will be no exception. This year’s festival will kick off with our Procession of Cultures Parade, showcasing your favorite Carnival bands!
