Join us as we join as Native People in mourning of the Native people massacred on this day and a day of unity of Native peoples and culture. In solidarity with the International Indian Treaty Council and the Sunrise Ceremony at Alcatraz Island.
The Annual Sunrise Ceremony is a free community healing event that bring relatives together in a way that honors our ancestors and adds value to our experience.
Taller GIRASOL and SOAC@MHP are sponsoring a Live Screen-Printing station to stand in solidarity with Puerto Rico at the Sunrise Ceremony. Artwork has been donated to represent causes such as Boriken Power, Standing Rock, and other indigenous movements. Supporters can bring items to be screen-printed for a donation; all proceeds will go to Mutual Aid Centers in Puerto Rico.
Uniting Indigenous, Mexica and African drums to honor the Ancestors and heartbeat of Mother Earth.
In solidarity with the International Indian Treaty Council’s historic Alcatraz gathering please join the School of Arts & Culture at MHP in collaboration with Calpulli Tonalehqueh, Akoma Arts, New Fire/Yancuic Xihuitl, the Leonard Peltier Defense Offense Committee Chapter Silicon Valley and the San Jose Black Berets to commemorate all indigenous cultures and traditions in a sunrise gathering.
Offerings of a libation ceremony, song and dance will be: Akoma Arts (African Drum) and Calpulli Tonalehqueh with Mexika/Aztec dance and song :
