The FREE community-wide outdoor “Music at Skypark” concert series returns for its 13th season on the last Sundays of August and September!
The bands below will perform on August 28 and Sept. 25 in Skypark in Scotts Valley. Concerts run from 2:30 to 6:00.
The all-volunteer Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley will once again put on these concerts, and dedicate all profits to the music programs at local public schools (concert profits over the years now top $155,000!). Kiwanis and local businesses will offer food, wine, beer and other concessions for sale. Volunteer opportunities and sponsorships are available (and welcome!). SUNDAY SEPT. 25 – ALEX LUCERO AND LIVE AGAIN – 2:30 to 4:00 pm.
Alex Lucero and Live Again brings their huge range of high-energy soul, funk, jazz, jazz fusion, Afro Cuban, reggae and Americana to the stage to open up our concert. What a repertoire! What creativity! Trust us, it’s always a memorable treat to experience this band – just ask our MASP concertgoers from last year!
SUNDAY SEPT. 25 – SAMBADA – 4:30 to 6:00 pm.
Rooted in Afro-Brazilian song and dance, concert headliner SambaDá has developed a type of sambareggae-funk with a universal appeal. SambaDá musically unites the Americas, drawing from percussion-based styles of South and Central America, and blends it with good old funk and reggae back-beat so familiar to North American crowds. This music will be magic! Truly, this will be a treat!
