Calafia Armada breathes contemporary stories into traditional folk music from across the Americas like a fresh wind through age old trees. We play rhythms with roots from Colombia, Mexico, and Cuba with a Californian sensibility.
We will be supported by Diego Ardila of Congratulatinos, who just released an incredible album of original tunes inspired by Cumbia, Bachata, and more.
And Banda Sin Nombre from the Mission, SF.
A special guest will give a brief talk about the Indigenous resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota that is growing by the day. Last time we repped for social justice and that tradition is continuing!
