About:
Carnaval San Francisco is a multicultural celebration of music, dance, and artistry that since 1978 has showcased Latin American, Caribbean and African Diasporic cultures and the talents of Mission District residents in an atmosphere of harmony and revelry.
KQED en Español host Carlos Cabrera-Lomeli talks with new Executive Director Rodrigo Ehecatl Duran and current leadership Roberto Y. Hernandez, Martha Estrella, and special guest Adela Chu, about Carnaval’s legacy of more than 40 years of uplifting diverse Latinx roots, this year’s theme, “Colores de Amor,” and the festival’s vision for a future of inclusive family and community celebration.
Then celebrate this year’s newly crowned festival King and Queen, as they perform their triumphal dance!
