About exhibit:

Mary J. Andrade is an author, photographer, and co-publisher of La Oferta Latino Bilingual Newspaper, which she founded in 1978 with her husband, Frank.

In the mid-1980s, Andrade collaborated with Shirley I. Fisher to research and photograph community members who’d made social, economic and political contributions to Santa Clara valley. The goal was to preserve the wisdom and heritage of the subjects while raising awareness of local history. The work culminated in Solidarity, Hispanic Senior Citizens.
