LADAMA in Concert at EPACENTER

This group of four women, virtuosic musicians, and educators from different countries and cultures of the Americas are sisters in song, rhythm and spirit.

Harnessing music from their respective countries of origin, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and the United States, the group utilizes traditional and non-traditional instruments from across the Americas, but with a modern twist to produce Latin Alternative music. Reimagining South American and Caribbean styles like cumbia, maracatu, onda nueva and joropo and blending them with soul, R&B and pop, they have created a new sound all their own.

This is an outdoor concert event so bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Get your tickets now. Tickets are free but a suggested donation of $10 per person helps keep our arts education programs free for East Palo Alto youth.

This event is sponsored by Stanford Live, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund, and EPACENTER.

Biography:

LADAMA is a group of four women, each of them virtuosic musicians, composers and educators, who met during an arts residency.

Lara Klaus, Daniela Serna, Mafer Bandola and Sara Lucas harness traditional and modern styles from their countries of origin–Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and the United States–to create Latin alternative music.

Praised by NPR for their “irresistible spirit and universal appeal,” they have performed music as an act of civil engagement at festivals and conventions alike. Whereas LADAMA’S self-titled debut album (2017) centered on organic roots percussion and rhythm, their second album Oye Mujer (2020) presents charged, visceral songs sung in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
