We need your support to keep this anchor institution in San Francisco’s Mission District strong, as we face the challenge of temporary relocation due to seismic retrofitting.
We proudly invite you celebrate this, and our many milestones at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts “45th Anniversary Gala 2022” on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 6-10 p.m.
Our special event will feature the exclusive west coast premiere of Mayan Rulers in the Heart of the Mission — Reyes Mayas en el Corazón De La Mission. The Palos Mayan Collection sculptures are created by master sculptor Manuel Palos from scholar Joan W. Patten’s casts and rubbings of the original artifacts in Guatemala and will be exhibited here for the first time.
Join us as we celebrate by presenting the “Mayan Rulers in the Heart of the Mission.” This will be the first time this important collection of the Mayan Stelae replicas from the Mayan Palos Collection will be exhibited.
The community gathering will include mezcal, wine, dinner, live entertainment, dancing, and art!
If you are unable to attend, please consider making a donation and supporting the longterm sustainability of this historic landmark institution.

The historic Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts is celebrating 45 years in the Mission District of San Francisco!!
Month-long protests by thousands of disabled activists who chained themselves to government buildings resulted in the Americans with Disabilities Act. That same year, the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA) was established. Since its inception, artists and community activists have continuously promoted, preserved, and developed the cultural arts that reflect Chicano, Central and South American, and Caribbean people, and made arts accessible as an essential element to community development and well-being. Today, MCCLA is a thriving multicultural, multidisciplinary arts organization; it is the largest Latino cultural center in the Bay Area.
