Journalists Against Detention Camps // SF

Friday at 12 PM – 1 PM
630 Sansome St, San Francisco, CA 94111.

Calling all reporters, writers, photojournalists, videographers, producers, investigators and media makers to take a stand against the inhumane conditions of migrant detention camps and the institutional racism of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).

As journalists we are expected to remain neutral, unbiased. But we can no longer remain neutral in the face of atrocities committed against asylum seekers and undocumented Americans. It’s time to speak out.

Members of the press have been a constant target of the current administration, especially those who cover immigration. Come stand in solidarity with us outside the ICE office in San Francisco.

Everyone is welcome.

Speakers confirmed as of 08/26:

Alexis Terrazas, Editor-in-Chief of El Tecolote, the longest-running bilingual newspaper in the southwest

– Ela Banerjee and Alexa Gelbard of Voice of Witness, who will be reading excerpts from the book “Solito, Solita: Crossing Borders with Youth Refugees from Central America”

Stuart Schuffman, Editor-in-Cheap of Broke-Ass Stuart and columnist at The San Francisco Examiner

Steve Zeltzer, host of WorkWeek on KPFA Radio

Want to get on the speaker roster? Want to help organize? read a poem, etc? Write a note in the comments or DM.
