JOY JAM festival: Samba, Dá LoCura & more // Pescadero

Join us at Joy Jam 2023 from 3-8pm for a family-friendly festival and celebration of community featuring pop-up food experiences, live music, storytelling, local artist workshops & market, immersive installations for collective visioning, poetry, and (of course) some pie.

Hosted by Pie Ranch and Food Culture Collective, Joy Jam is a celebration of food community. Get ready for a joyful afternoon of dancing, delicious food, creativity, and electric conversations about what it means to care for the lands, waters, and peoples who nourish us. Come and connect with new or old friends, because laughter, stories, music, art , and communing with the land are all on the menu in celebration and solidarity for the future of food.

Únete a nosotros en Joy Jam 2023 de 3 a 8 p. m. y participa en un festival para toda la familia; una celebración de la comunidad con experiencias gastronómicas innovadoras, música en vivo, narración de cuentos, talleres y mercado de artistas locales, instalaciones inmersivas para la visión colectiva, poesía y caminatas guiadas por Pie Ranch y (por supuesto) un poco de pastel.

Organizado por Pie Ranch y Food Culture Collective, Joy Jam es una celebración de la comunidad alimentaria. Prepárate para una tarde alegre de baile, deliciosa comida, creatividad y conversaciones eléctricas sobre lo que significa cuidar la tierra, el agua y las personas que nos dan de comer. Bring your friends, bring your family—there is something for everyone at Joy Jam! Located on Pie Ranch’s beautiful grounds in Pescadero, CA, Joy Jam will feature a variety of activities for an afternoon and evening of fun, food, and community:

• Live music from 7 different Bay Area artists (see below)
• Local food pop-ups from Oakland and Santa Cruz
• Over 30 local artists selling work and creating place-based installations
• Guided walks around the land with the Amah Mutsun Land Trust
• Flower crown crafting & face painting
• Art installations by local artists
• Drop-in story circles
• Immersive community visioning sessions
• Chicken Bomb Bingo, raffle, and silent auction!
• Space to relax and enjoy the farm

Peaches Patties — Jamaican catering company based in San Francisco that prides itself on baking a variation of fresh homemade Jamaican patties and other popular Jamaican dishes

Visual Arts

We are thrilled to be joined by artists Christine Wong Yap Arte Motuwho are creating immersive art experiences at Joy Jam for visitors to engage with.

We also have over 30 local and visiting artists contributing work to be viewed and sold at the event! Be prepared to peruse some incredible work by artists from our community and support their creative endeavors.

What to Bring to Joy Jam

• Reusable dishware (like a cup, plate, and cutlery) to avoid single-use disposables
• Cash and card for food, drink, pie, raffle tickets, a photo booth, bouncy house and face painting for the kids and our silent auction*
• Sturdy walking/dancing shoes
• Water bottle
• Sun hat
• Farm-chic digs that you don’t mind getting covered in a little hay
• Your friends and family!

What NOT to Bring:

• • Pets or animals of any kind
  • Valuable items
  • Outside alcoholic beverages

*The silent auction will feature exciting items to bid on like hotel stays & getaways, product from local businesses and farms and so much more! There will also be limited-edition “Joy Jam” tee shirts for sale, the farmstand will be open offering goodies & veggies to take home and a few games as well! We can accept cash, checks, credit cards, and debit cards at the event. All proceeds (with the exception of food vendors) go towards supporting the farm!

Please note that children must be accompanied by a parent at all times. Although we are unable to offer childcare for visitors, children are encouraged and welcomed at Joy Jam!
