La Pelanga en la Misión Vol. 6
Somos One/BRWN BFLO (EP Release Party!)
We’re super excited to partner with the Brick & Mortar Music Hall to bring La Pelanga a La Misión every month — Volumen 6 will feature Mass Bass and Somos One/BRWN BFLO straight from Oakland Califas!
Mass Bass (www.massbassmusic.com) is a 7-piece funky hip hop radical soul collective from Oakland, CA. The group consists of Armael Malinis on keys, Ervin Lopez on guitar/background vocals, Jay Conui on Drums, Kiwi Illafonte on raps/vocals, Paul Bolick on Bass, Tina Shauf on background vocals, and Tony Daquipa on congas/percussion.
Somosone / BRWN BFLO are a Chicano Latino political hip hop group from the Fruitvale district in East Oakland. They spend time entertaining as well as educating, supporting the local community and spreading messages of violence prevention, cultural pride and La Raza resistance.
La Pelanga (www.lapelanga.com) is a DJ collective born out of Cali, Colombia, and based in The Bay. Since 2008, we build community around a crazy, positive dance floor in the spirit of unity and liberation. We bring vinilos from every corner of Latinoamérica, Africa, and the Caribbean – the best cumbia, afrobeat, salsa dura, soukous, champeta, dancehall, kompa, reggaeton, coupé decalé, currulao, and much more!
