CANDELA has two related meanings in Spanish, candle and fire.
Blessed with a tenor voice that resembles that of Rubén Blades and Isaac Delgado, lead singer and conga drummer Edgardo Cambón started “Edgardo & Candela” Salsa Band in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1986.
Their high energy level performances, featuring great vocals, a tight rhythm section and the powerful sound of the horns, is world-renowned.
Jessie Varela, program Director of KCSM radio and Latin Beat Magazine critic wrote: “Edgardo has mastered that great ability to lead his salsa band from the conga drums…while singing lead vocals…! Now… that’s a show by itself!”
