WHEN: First intervention and project launch Sunday, Oct 2 from 1-4PM (there will be weekly interventions visit: http://migentevota.org/community-interventions for dates & locations)
WHY: The project aims to engage the community in the electoral process (non-partisan) through live screen printing demonstrations, community dialogue, and voter registration. As part of the project Galería commissioned works by artist Lenny Correa, Eric Garcia, Chris Robertson, and Lexx Valdez. The works of these artists have been made into posters that Galería will be giving out to the community free of charge (in the Bay Area and around the country).
Our first “intervention” will be held on Sunday Oct 2 from 1-4PM at Galería de la Raza and will include live screen printing and voter registration.
Educators for Fair Consideration and La Raza Centro Legal have partnered with Galería and will be providing on-site voter registration as well as information on upcoming ballot measures.
As part of the project we have created a website www.migentevota.org where visitors can sign up to receive one free digitally printed poster (or all 4 posters can be downloaded and printed at home) the website also has a voter registration portal, as well as information on all the public art interventions.
