About event:
Celebrate 10 years with us of bringing together hundreds of local teens and young adults ages 12 to 22.
This day is an opportunity for youth and their parents to explore questions of identity and purpose, and build community through a fun and interactive day that includes hands-on workshops, inspirational speakers, artistic expression, community resource sharing and networking.
This year we welcome Yosimar Reyes, a nationally-acclaimed Poet and Public Speaker.
Born in Guerrero, Mexico, and raised in Eastside San Jose, Reyes explores the themes of migration and sexuality in his work. The Advocate named Reyes one of “13 LGBT Latinos Changing the World” and Remezcla included Reyes on their list of “10 Up And Coming Latinx Poets You Need To Know.” We are excited for Yosimar Reyes to join our OYE Community!
We will also share space with OYE Alumni joining us as part of the Youth and Young Adult panel to reflect on their participation in OYE as workshop presenters, planning committee members, performers and overall community leaders.
In addition to amazing speakers, we will have performances, interactive workshops and free breakfast and lunch for all in person participants.
The OYE Planning Committee 2022 looks forward to celebrating with you!
OYE is a Fiscally Sponsored Project of the Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation.
For In-Person Participants we will be adhering to COVID Safety Protocols including wearing of mask at all times- except when eating or drinking. We will also be requiring that all in-person participants show proof of Full Vaccination or Negative COVID19 test results.
