Community Institute for Psychotherapy to Host 2018 Community Conference: Raising Healthy Families: Building Connection, Compassion, and Community
Bay Area experts will educate the community on how parents can help their children form healthy relationships with themselves, family members, peers, and others.
(San Rafael, CA) The Community Institute for Psychotherapy (CIP) in conjunction with the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE), will hold a community conference, Raising Healthy Families: Building Connection, Compassion, and Community, on March 3, 2018.
The day-long event will take place at the MCOE, 1111 Las Gallinas Avenue, San Rafael, from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. An attendance of 200, including the general public and mental health professionals, is expected.
Bringing together noted Bay Area experts, the conference will address critical issues facing today’s families and educators. The focus will be on how we can help children form healthy relationships with themselves and family members, peers, and others. Sessions will include “The Illusion of Connection: Parenting in the Age of Technology,” “Mindfulness in Parenting: How to Be Present with Our Children” and a panel discussion on the topic of inclusivity, differences, and compassion. Dr. Matt Willis, Public Health Officer for Marin, will deliver the keynote address.
“Our intent in presenting this important conference is to empower parents, educators, and professionals to help raise children who are curious, compassionate, and resilient,” says Robin Joy Berenson, PhD, LMFT, CIP’s Executive & Clinical Director. “We know that when we raise healthy families, we can make our community safer, healthier, and more inclusive.”
A Resource Exhibition will be open for attendees to browse throughout the day. There, Conference Sponsors and Conference Partners will offer information of interest to attendees about the work they do to serve the community. All event proceeds will go directly to support CIP’s safety-net programs. Through sliding scale and pro bono services, CIP assures that disadvantaged families and individuals have access to the quality mental health care they need to regain emotional stability and live full, productive lives.
