[free] Sonoma Community Center’s annual Altar-Lighting ceremony

Day of the Dead tribute altar comes to life

The public altar, constructed by local sculptor Jim Callahan, will be adorned with photos and other items that honor lost loved ones. Community members are invited to contribute their mementoes to the ofrenda in a shared celebration of those who have passed on.

Opening Ceremony with David from Azteca 5:30pm

Ballet Folklorico Quetzalen 6:00pm

Mariachi Jalisco 6:30pm-8:30pm

Tamales, churros and kids’ art activities

 

FREE and open to the public

You may submit a photo of your loved one for the public altar prior to the event or feel free to bring your photo to the event. Photos (no larger than 8.5 x 11), name of loved one and date range can be emailed to scc@sonomacommunitycenter and we will laminate the image. It can also be dropped off in the SCC office, 10am– 4pm. Deadline to submit to SCC is October 28.
