Legendary music group, WAR, concludes their WAR IS MUSIC tour with a stop on December 29 at the City National Civic of San Jose.
The iconic band is touring in relation to its current international release of its catalogue with Sony as well as their top selling greatest hits compilation “Icon,” with Universal Music Enterprises.
The catalogue includes all of the great multiplatinum selling albums such as “Eric Burdon Declares WAR,” “The World Is A Ghetto,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “All Day Music,” and many more! Opening the show is San Francisco’s fast rising stars Con Brio who are touring in support of their debut studio album, Paradise, which was just released this past July.
WAR has achieved 31 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum RIAA sales honors; 11 Top 10 pop hits; and 20 Top 10 R&B hits, including “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “The Cisco Kid,” “The World is a Ghetto,” “Gypsy Man,” and “Summer.”
With its multi-ethnic line-up, and groundbreaking styles, including jazz, rock, funk, soul, R&B and Latin, WAR is the quintessential Los Angeles street band which began with Eric Burdon. The band’s current lineup features lead singer/keyboardist Lonnie Jordan, percussionist Sal Rodriguez, percussionist Marcos Reyes, guitarist Stuart Ziff, bassist Rene Camacho, saxophone/flutist David Urquidi and harmonica player Stanley Behrens.
WAR, over the last four decades, has recorded a roster of some of the most memorable hits of all time, with songs that have been sampled by such artists as: Flo Rida, Rick Ross, A$AP Mob, Kendrick Lamar, 2Pac, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Method Man, the Beastie Boys, Janet Jackson, Barry White, and many more. Low Rider is currently the song used in the Crestor campaign and was the theme song of the George Lopez Show; and their songs have been featured on The United Shades of America, Chelsea Does, Ellen, New Girl ,The Simpsons and King of the Hill. Motion picture placements have included Deadpool, The Internship, Hotel Transylvania 2, Up In Smoke, Disney’s Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Lethal Weapon, Boogie Nights, Gone in 60 Seconds, and more. Their music is also featured in such video games as Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, MLB 08, and Skate 2.
Formed in 2013, Con Brio is a seven-piece powerhouse rock ‘n soul band who’ve wowed crowds at some of the biggest music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, North Sea Jazz (The Netherlands), and Fuji Rock (Japan).
