Legendary Musician Pete Escovedo Will Celebrate His 90th Birthday, Kicks Off “Pete Escovedo: The California Art Tour” Unveiling His Paintings in Oakland, CA.

Pete Escovedo, a globally celebrated musician and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, is preparing to unveil a lesser-known side of his artistry through his California Art Tour, a remarkable traveling exhibition showcasing his vibrant and personal collection of paintings.

The Oakland chapter of Escovedo’s art tour will take place at Studios 11 and The Grand

Gallery from July 1 to 31, 2025, offering art lovers and fans the opportunity to experience his life and creative expression on canvas. The highlight of the exhibition will be an opening reception on Thursday, July 17th, from 4 PM – 7 PM, where attendees can meet the artist in person and wish him a happy 90th birthday.

Having made his mark in the music world through projects like “The Pete Escovedo Orchestra” and collaborations with Santana and Azteca, Escovedo’s artistic endeavors highlight the same passion, rhythm, and storytelling that have defined his musical legacy. With a collection of works dating as far back as 1951, his paintings explore themes drawn from his life in music, family, and personal experiences. His style of work is reminiscent of Brazilian painter, Tarsila do Amaral with a splash of Italian painter, Amedeo Clemente Modigliani.

“Turning emotions and memories into paintings is another way for me to share my story,” said Escovedo. “Through this art tour, I hope to connect with people on a whole new level.” The exhibition is curated and managed by Eric Murphy in collaboration with Pete Escovedo’s daughter, Zina Escovedo. Attendees can view exclusive paintings while enjoying insights into Escovedo’s creative inspiration, leaving with a deeper appreciation for his talents across various mediums.
