About festival!
Fruitvale is the place to be for any and all Latinx cultural celebrations. But none more than the Dia de los Muertos festival, which for the past 27 years has taken over International Boulevard between Fruitvale and 42nd Avenue.
It is one of Oakland’s largest gatherings, attracting over 100,000 people yearly. Stop by to patronize vendors and local businesses, and admire the community ofrendas.
The Oakland Día de los Muertos Festival is a free, outdoor festival that brings over 100,000 people to the vibrant, culturally-rich Fruitvale neighborhood to enjoy world-class live music, family-friendly games, rides and activities, traditional Latin American artisans, and the stunning altar artistic installations created by community members paying homage to los Muertos.
Sunday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., free to attend, International Boulevard between Fruitvale and 42nd Avenue.
The Día de los Muertos Festival was inducted into the U.S. Library of Congress by Congresswoman Barbara Lee as a “Local Legacy.”
