San Jose band Maldita Cruda’s name can be translated as wicked or damned hangover. Besides the lingering effects of drinks imbibed at their shows, Maldita Cruda might supply a musical hangover through its bombastic but effortless fusion of ska, punk, cumbia and Latin genres.
The band’s songs are incredibly arranged, which is easy to overlook as they are blast overhead with fast, enigmatic and cacophonous rhythms. Yet, there’s something magnetic about Maldita Cruda’s songs.
They find the perfect balance between familiar and uncharted, exploring the perennial grooves of different genres before smashing them together in a riotous, overt harmony of speed and sound.
THE CARAVAN LOUNGE is a friendly, owner-operated bar located in the heart of downtown San Jose. As well as being one of San Jose’s oldest live music venues, the Caravan provides other fun activities such as karaoke, comedy, burlesque, pool table, and DJ nights.
