This is heartbreaking!
This week, Peralta Hacienda has been hit with a wave of racist and destructive graffiti.
Our community center, cargo box, murals, and stage have all been tagged—not just with what appear to be gang-related markings, but also with the N-word. (To avoid spreading hate, we’ve blurred out the most offensive words.)
We’re at a loss. With the City’s budget cuts, cleanup could take a long time. So in the meantime, we’re rolling up our sleeves and scrubbing the walls ourselves, hoping this won’t just keep happening.
If anyone knows or is in contact with the taggers, please ask them to stop. Everything we do is for the betterment of Fruitvale and our community. We work hard to keep this park a safe and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy and take pride in.
