Celebrate Mexican culture with film, dance and musical performances

Watsonville Film Festival is excited to partner with Cabrillo College’s Hispanic Serving Institution Week to present a Mexican Fiesta!
- Watsonville Plaza on Friday, September 15, from 5PM – 7PM.
- This free family event will feature wonderful musicians & dancers.

Mariachi Juvenil Corazón Jaliscience from Hollister [top photo].
A dance performance by Watsonville’s own folkloric group, Esperanza del Valle.
Laura Rebolloso, singer, dancer, poet and co-founder of the legendary Son Jarocho band from Veracruz, Son de Madera.
Rebolloso is considered a virtuoso of the four- stringed instrument known as leona. She will perform with Son Jarocho Santa Cruz.

At 7:30PM, after the performances, WFF will present a free screening of a classic comedy from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema: El Rey del Barrio / King of the Neighborhood.
With beloved actor/comedian Tin Tán at Cabrillo College’s Watsonville Center (next to the Plaza).
This film has been painstakingly restored and features English subtitles.
This special screening is a WFF collaboration with the Mexican Consulate in San Jose and the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE).
Closing the evening with a classic Mexican film from the 1950’s will be a lot of fun! (100 min. Adult situations).
This third annual community celebration is presented by the Watsonville Film Festival in partnership with Cabrillo College, City of Watsonville Parks and Community Services Department, Consulado General de México en San José, Santa Cruz County Office of Education and 23Hrs Entertainment.
