Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez and Chris Billam-Smith are on the ground in Riyadh ahead of this weekend’s cruiserweight title unification fight, live and free worldwide on DAZN.

Ramirez is the WBA cruiserweight champion and Billam-Smith holds the WBO title, and both men are looking to leave Saudi Arabia with both belts in tow as they hope to continue their quest for undisputed status.

Zurdo vs. Billam-Smith fight history:

Ramirez returns to the Middle East for the first time since he lost to Dmitry Bivol in Abu Dhabi in late 2022, when the Mexican was trying to add the WBA light heavyweight title to his trophy case. It remains the only loss in a stellar career for the 33-year-old, and it is also the lone fight that Ramirez has taken part in outside of North America.

Since the loss to Bivol, Ramirez has defeated Joe Smith Jr. and the aforementioned Arsen Goulamirian.

Like Ramirez, Billam-Smith only has a single loss in his career, with that coming against Richard Riakporhe back in 2019. “The Gentleman” has since rattled off 11 straight victories, including a rematch against Riakporhe that stands as his most recent bout.

The 34-year-old defeated Lawrence Okolie for the WBO title in May 2023 and has held it ever since.
