Teatro Visión is teaching an Introduction to Teatro Class for youth ages 10-14.

In this class, children will develop acting skills through explorations of their own experiences, perspectives, and hopes. Class sessions take place primarily in Spanish.
In Spring 2025, Teatro Visión is excited to present The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, adapted by Amy Ludwig, as our youth production! This class will prepare students to audition for the stage adaptation of the classic vignettes.
We’ll welcome a dozen young teatristas—skilled artists who are committed to culture-based, bilingual theater—to our Introduction to Teatro Youth Class.
Intro to Teatro is great for youth ages 9-13, who will develop acting skills through explorations of their own experiences, perspectives, and hopes. Class sessions are from August 6-17 and take place primarily in Spanish.
Even more exciting: Intro to Teatro is part of a class series that prepares students to audition for our spring youth production. This year, we have the honor of presenting The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, adapted by Amy Ludwig!

Meet the Instructor:
Ugho Badú, the director of Teatro Visión’s 2024 production of Francisco Jiménez’s La Mariposa, returns to teach Intro to Teatro! Originally from Guadalajara, México, Ugho’s stage credits with Teatro Visión include: Miss You Like Hell (2023), Macario (2013-2016, 2019, 2022), Raíces: el libro de los caminos (2021), Departera (2018, 2021), La Muerte Baila (2017, 2020). As a founding member of Teatro Alebrijes he has been an actor, playwright, and stage director since 2011. Stage credits with Teatro Alebrijes include: Entre Villancicos y Multiversikos, Citlali, El grito, El día después del 4 de Mayo, Guadalupe, La Escuelita, Entre Villancicos y Conventícos, Entre Villancicos y Cuentíkos, Cuarto para las Doce (2019-2022), Entre Villancicos y Enredhijos, Canción de Cuna para un Niño Herido (2019, 2021), Entre Villancicos y Onomastíkos, Carlota (2016-2018, 2023), No es otro Cuento de Navidad, Sejirbela, Una Tierra Llamada Mañana, El Señor Director, Érase una Vez… un Camino Amarillo, Sucedió en la Revolución, Un Sueño en Cualquier Lugar, and Divas a Belén. Other stage credits include Cuentos de Peregrinación and La Llorona with Opera Cultura, A mi no se me nota with El Teatro Campesino.
