About film:

We open with MOE a poignant film directed by José Luis Rodriguez based on a play written by Evelina Fernández (Luminarias, American Me, Flatliners).

MOE packs an emotional punch, dramatic performances, music and joy. Sal López (Full Metal Jacket, Man On Fire) throws himself into the role of Moe – Moisés- a fun loving theater actor who’s health is in fast decline due to AIDS but he’s still active- planning his ‘one-woman’ show and his final going away party. Friends, family and Moe’s alter ego- a singing drag-queen celebrate life and the people in our lives- flaws and all.

In 2003, Evelina’s play “Dementia” won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Theater Production in Los Angeles.
