OV7 are one of the loudest, most eccentric and energetic groups to come out of the Latino pop scene in the last ten years. To say that their presence onstage is huge is an understatement. There are lights flashing, sparks flying, there is hyperactive dancing, air-tight choreography – a whole lot of panache and enthusiasm. They are not shy to show who they really are. This is the experience of their shows: you can dance any way you like, you can sing along, you can dress up or down and you don’t have to care. So long as you enjoy the music, there’s nothing stopping you from having a good time.
Coming out of Mexico City, they are one of the longest-running pop groups in the history of Latino music. Their first release was in 1989, under the name La Onda Vaselina. They wouldn’t become OV7 until 2000. They had rematerialised many times in the ‘90s with various line-up changes and under various names including La Banda Rock, Dulces Para Tí and, simply, La Onda Vaselina 2. In their latest form, OV7 have really come into their own, and their performance is spectacular.
