The location of the festival venue (Hyatt Regency SOMA) is centralized. Union Square, Chinatown and Embarcadero are just walking distance.
There is a rumor going around that downtown area is not safe. Not true. Just make sure you avoid the Tenderloin spots and you’d be just fine enjoying San Francisco. Tenderloin is bounded on the north by Geary Street, on the east by Mason Street, on the south by Market Street and on the west by Van Ness Avenue.

Just make sure you don’t leave any stuff in your car while parking at anytime. It’s best to put down one of the backseat to expose your empty trunk. Open your glove compartment as well. This would show there is none to steal.

There are 3 restaurants in the hotel. But if you want a cheaper eatz, there is a food court at Metreon (one block away by Mission & 4th). There is another food court three blocks away from Hyatt to Westfield Francisco Shopping Centre (Market street & Powell street)
