Stevie B will be joined by Jaya and Shannon.

Between 1988 and 1991 Stevie B had seven singles that charted on the Billboard 100, including five in the top 40 and one that spent four weeks as the chart’s number one hit. That one, “Because I Love You (The Postman Song),” knocked Whitney Houston’s “I’m Your Baby Tonight” out of first position in December 1990 and blocked Madonna’s “Justify My Love” from reaching the top spot until January 1991.

Known as the “Queen of Soul” in the Philippines, Jaya has captivated audiences with hits like “Dahil Tanging Ikaw,” “Wala Na Bang Pag-ibig,” and “If You Leave Me Now.” With her exceptional vocal range, heartfelt performances and commanding stage presence, Jaya bridges classic soul influences with contemporary music.

A true icon of the freestyle movement, Shannon burst onto the scene with her smash hit “Let the Music Play,” a track that helped define the sound of ’80s dance-pop and continues to fire up dance floors today. With her distinctive voice, synth-driven beats and timeless hooks, Shannon is a pioneer of the genre and a fixture in the era’s club and radio milieu—and beyond.

Her performances are an energetic mix of high-octane rhythm and emotional flair. From the first beat to the last chorus, Shannon will have fans moving and grooving.

Stevie B., Jaya and Shannon will be supported by an all-star roster of Bay Area DJs: Hugo & Chuy Gomez, DJ Looney Tunes & DJ Cris Campos, Brotha Reese and local legend Cutso, of The Bangerz.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the sound of freestyle, this is your chance to experience the electrifying performance of an ’80s and ’90s icon. With his smooth vocals and infectious beats, Stevie B will have the whole park dancing and singing along all night long.

Did you know?

Stevie B is known as “The King of Freestyle” and is the movement’s most successful artist.

In 1987 he was living off White Road in the Berryessa neighborhood, and stayed for a bit at the Sainte Claire Hotel. A December show at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds “bombed,” he recalls.

He walked around the fairgrounds and met drummer Donnie Macala, a transplant from Hawaii, and music producer Dadgel Atabay. Days later they were all on a plane to New York.

The team recorded in New York and the debut album came out in 1988. It featured three blockbusters, including “Party My Body” and “Spring Love,” two of the biggest hits of the freestyle explosion.

A follow up hit, “Because I Love You (The Postman Song), knocked Whitney Houston’s “I’m Your Baby Tonight” out of first position in December 1990 and blocked Madonna’s “Justify My Love” from reaching the top spot.  Read article here.
