Ghostly Labor, by Vanessa Sanchez and La Mezcla delves into the rich history of labor in the US-Mexico borderlands, combining the art forms of Tap Dance, Mexican Zapateado, Son Jarocho and Afro-Caribbean movement.
Through a captivating fusion of polyrhythmic movement and an original score, the production examines the legacy of systemic labor exploitation and celebrates the resilience and unity found in collective resistance.
This work was commissioned by MACLA with the support of The National Performance Network and the National Endowment for the Arts.
