Inspired by Choreographer, Liz Duran Boubion’s 10-week residency in the Mojave desert during the pandemic, this show is dedicated to raising awareness and building solidarity for murdered and missing women across the globe.
Part of the show is based on research, workshops and conversations with artists and women who are working with families actively searching for missing and murdered loved ones in Mexico.

It’s inspired by Choreographer, Liz Duran Boubion’s 10-week residency in the Mojave desert during the pandemic and is dedicated to raising awareness and building solidarity for murdered and missing women across the globe.

Cuatro Vientos: Medio de la nada es una producción multimedia de danza-teatro que confronta los miedos y estrategias de caminar solo. La Piñata Dance Collective investiga la fisiología del miedo, el concepto de libertad y la búsqueda de riesgo y refugio en el mundo natural. Está inspirado en la residencia de 10 semanas de la coreógrafa Liz Duran Boubion en el desierto de Mojave durante la pandemia y está dedicado a crear conciencia y generar solidaridad para las mujeres asesinadas y desaparecidas en todo el mundo. Parte del programa se basa en investigaciones, talleres y conversaciones con artistas y mujeres que trabajan con familias que buscan activamente a sus seres queridos desaparecidos y asesinados en México.
Piñata Dance Collective
Piñata Dance Collective is directed by choreographer, Liz Duran Boubion, MFA, RSMT.
She is an interdisciplinary dance-theater artist, presenter and Registered Somatic Movement Therapist dedicated to the practice of liberation through the language of the body in relation to self, other and the world at large. As a Chicana and queer choreographer, Ms. Boubion is making a bridge between several communities by placing value on identity, ecology and radical aesthetics through personal narratives, ritual performance and political art intervention. She is the founding Artistic Director of both the Festival of Latin American Contemporary Choreographers (FLACC) and of the Piñata Dance Collective based in San Francisco, Ca.
